Feature Tiles & Tiling is complete - Almost

So its been a bit over a week but the tiles are mostly finished. The tilers came and went a couple of times finishing and fixing a few areas. Our master bathroom had the taps placed in the wrong position so the tillers have to wait until that gets fixed. Our feature tiles have been installed in the shower niches and powder room. Wall tiles in the kitchen and other areas.

Tiles are a go!

I am constantly amazed how quickly things are done. The frame takes no time, plaster was only a day to hang and the floor and wall tiles will be about 3 days start to finish. The tilers arrived, cleaned up and set out for a few hours one afternoon. The next day they layed pretty much all of the full floor tile (no cut tiles). Then followed that up with a day filling all the cut tiles space and installed most of the wall tiles. Another day with a few hours of grouting and they are mostly done. They will be finished with about another half day completing our feature tiles kitchen splashback and the remaining grout.

Site Supervisor

For those of you that don't know, you get allocated a site supervisor that will look after your build once the slab has been competed. If everything goes to plan you shouldn't have to much communication with you Building Coordinator once the construction stage starts.

Waterproofing is well...Blue :-)

So something that has been on my mind during the build preparation was waterproofing. I read about various water proofing worries/problems  people have had. Having wooden floor construction under the tiles for the upper level it seemed like a legitimate concern for me to be thinking about.

Painting is underway

Yes, that's correct. Brick laying hasn't finished but they have started the painting in our house. I takes a day or 2 to go through the house before the first coat of paint is applied. The fix various bumps and knocks on the walls. At the same time there are people from the plastering back at the house fixing several areas that hadn't been completed and a couple more where they had to open it back up to get to something.

More Bricks are go!... But

So the brickwork has been quite a project on our house. As it turns out there were significant problems. First the bricklayer wouldn't start due to limited access so a new bricky was chosen. Then we missed the opportunity to start bricks because the team was stuck on another job meaning other parts of our build started instead. Then we had wet tapping delays so no water was available on site. When bricks eventually started we were happy and though we would progress smoothly from there. Nope!

Kitchen & Bathroom Stone Benches are in!

This a fairly straight forward blog post. It is as the title read - Kitchen and Bathroom Stone Benches are in. I am a little surprised that they have actually put the Stone Benchtop in. They have placed loose board on them to avoid damage but I don't know how much that will protect it.
